Eta Iota Earns Peterson Blue Award at Krach Workshop

The undergraduates are heading home from this year's Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop with another plaque — a Peterson Blue Award, one of Sigma Chi International's most significant annual honors for a chapter.
What the Peterson Award actually measures
Established in 1964, the Peterson Award isn't given for one good event or a strong semester — it's Sigma Chi's top annual recognition for excellence across everything a chapter is supposed to do: academics, philanthropy, recruitment, and Ritual performance, all rolled into the chapter's annual report to International Headquarters.
Eta Iota earned a Blue Award in this year's cycle. Only 78 chapters across all of Sigma Chi earned a Peterson Award at all — most chapters, even solid ones, don't clear the bar in a given year.
Presented at Krach
The award was presented at the Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop, Sigma Chi's flagship national leadership conference. It's a credit to the undergraduate chapter's current leadership, and to everyone — active and alumni — who keeps Eta Iota's operations running at a level that clears this bar year after year.
For the Eta Iota Chapter, a Blue Peterson has become the standard. Every year we strive for gold; due to its difficulty, we don't always achieve it, but it is amazing to be a part of a chapter that is bummed when we don’t get a gold. The Eta Iota chapter is definitely a higher caliber of Sigma Chi’s due to its military roots and very professional background, so receiving awards for being in the top chapters is a tradition we celebrate every year. To receive the Peterson Award, the Eta Iota Chapter sent Nico Cambruzzi (House Manager), Emerson Khol (Magister), and Jack Sudderth (Assist. Magister) to KTLW, also known as the Krach Transformational Leadership Workshop. They were joined by many Alumni, including William McNeil (JU Assist. Chapter Advisor) and Sterling Stein, who was in the top 3 finalist for the International Balfourt Award. Here is a statement by Nico Cambruzzi about his experience at KTLW:
KTLW was a very powerful experience. As a senior, it definitely allowed me to reflect on my time as an undergrad. I wish I had attended KTLW earlier in my college experience. During the workshop, we learned different principles about how to not only be a good leader but also an effective one. Such as how to articulate, apply, analyze, integrate, examine, and evaluate situations, and then propose an action or idea on how to solve challenges within our chapters. I am looking forward to using my new leadership techniques during my position as house manager. I am also going to help guide other brothers in our chapter on how to assess situations and make more effective solutions. KTLW was a life changing experience, and I will use the skills in all parts of my life. - Nico Cambruzzi #1037
