1855 Club — Frequently Asked Questions

What are the 1855 Club levels of giving?

1855 Club donation levels are designed for all alumni — whether a recent graduate or a 30-year airline captain — through monthly or annual payment options. These are suggested amounts; donations of any amount are very appreciated. There are three forms of payment (see below).

LevelMonthlyAnnual
Blue$9.27$111.30
Gold$18.55$222.60
White Cross$41.67$500.00
Norman Shield$75.00$900.00
Founder$100.00$1,200.00
Constantine$154.58$1,855.00

What is the money used for?

The 1855 Club was set up as a long-term savings plan with the intent of providing for significant capital improvement projects at our current house. The university has confirmed they have no medium or long-term plans to develop a Fraternity Row; therefore, the House Corporation has directed additional funding from the 1855 Club Fund to improve the current infrastructure.

The rent paid by the active chapter covers Risk Management Foundation (property and liability insurance) and a significant payment for house maintenance.

How can I donate?

We have three methods of donating directly to the House Corp to suit your needs: bank draft, credit card/PayPal, and check. You may also donate through the University in order for your donation to be tax deductible.

Bank Draft

Eta Iota House Corp uses secure electronic bank draft software to process payments directly from your checking account — similar to how major companies accept virtual checks over the phone. Drafts are processed entirely in-house on special security check stock with micro-printing to prevent unauthorized copying.

Bank drafts support both one-time annual payments and recurring monthly payments. Most 1855 Club members use this method as the easiest and most affordable option.

To put a draft on hold or cancel, contact the House Corporation Treasurer and your contributions will be stopped starting with the next scheduled payment. You can also resubmit the authorization form with updated information or select the “Cancel” option on the form.

If you prefer to print and mail the form, send the completed authorization (along with a voided check) to our House Corporation Treasurer — click below to view their profile and contact details:

Credit Card (PayPal)

Donations may be made using any major credit card through PayPal. If you are not yet a PayPal member, indicate that we referred you by entering 1855club@etaiota.org when prompted.

Are my contributions tax-deductible?

Direct donations to the House Corporation are not tax-deductible. Our current tax deductible option is through our Eta Iota Educational Foundation.
